SYNOPSIS

Based on a true lie, this fun and inspiring fable tells us the story of Billi (Awkwafina), born in China but raised in the USA.

She unwillingly goes back to Changchun and finds out that her matriarch and dearest grandmother, Nai-Nai, has only a few weeks left to live. However, Nai-Nai is the only member of the family who does not know her fate since the family has decided not to tell her.

As an excuse to happily enjoy her last moments, the family comes up with a wedding, the perfect event to gather all those members who were living abroad.

While Billi walks through a minefield of family expectations, she will realize there how much there is to celebrate: the chance to rediscover the country she left behind as a little girl, her grandma’s amazing way to face life and their bond that is still strong even if there are still many things untold.
